How long does whiskey last? Fridge, freezer & pantry
Unopened, whiskey keeps in the pantry for around 5 years. Once opened, use it within about 2 years for best quality and safety.

| Freezer | Not recommended |
| Pantry (room temp) | 5 years |
| After opening | 2 years |
Times are for unopened, properly stored whiskey and reflect best quality. Always use your senses and follow any date on the package.
Signs whiskey has gone bad
- Vinegary, flat, or musty smell (especially wine and beer).
- Cloudiness or sediment where there shouldn't be any.
- Off taste — spirits last almost indefinitely; wine and beer do not.
When in doubt, throw it out — the cost of a spoiled meal isn't worth the risk.
Best way to store whiskey
Store wine on its side in a cool, dark place and refrigerate once opened. Keep beer cold and upright. Spirits keep for years sealed; once opened they slowly lose character but stay safe.
