How long does vodka last? Fridge, freezer & pantry

Unopened, vodka keeps in the pantry for around 5 years. Once opened, use it within about 2 years for best quality and safety.

Times are for unopened, properly stored vodka and reflect best quality. Always use your senses and follow any date on the package.

Signs vodka has gone bad

  • Vinegary, flat, or musty smell (especially wine and beer).
  • Cloudiness or sediment where there shouldn't be any.
  • Off taste — spirits last almost indefinitely; wine and beer do not.

When in doubt, throw it out — the cost of a spoiled meal isn't worth the risk.

Best way to store vodka

Store wine on its side in a cool, dark place and refrigerate once opened. Keep beer cold and upright. Spirits keep for years sealed; once opened they slowly lose character but stay safe.
